Marissa grew up dancing and singing, both of which are forms of yoga, though she didn’t know it at the time. She fell in love with yoga asanas and meditation at a free class offered in college. Since then, she has been practicing yoga to connect with her self, her body, her spirit, as well as nature and something bigger than her self. She also uses it to strengthen her core, elongate her spine, and relieve pain and discomfort caused by scoliosis—which she was diagnosed with at age 13.
Marissa became inspired to teach yoga when she took a class that encompassed all of that and more, and she became called to offer an enlightened and accessible class of her own. She received her 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate from Ohana Rising Yoga School in Neptune New Jersey in October 2018. Marissa brings reverence, an element of dance, and a reverent flow to her classes.
Living in Ocean Grove, N.J., Marissa can often be found at the beach, singing with her band, working on a marketing campaign, or drinking glass of wine on her front porch.
